Bulging Barrow A.F.C fans are steeling themselves to ditch the pies, pizzas and pints to raise money for the Bluebirds Trust. And manager Ian Evatt was on hand to help them on their ‘weigh’ at the Holker Street launch.
Steve Herbert and Stu Nichols are challenging each other to lose weight over the next three months, to support the Bluebirds Trust’s ‘Play Your Part’ Initiative, which is trying to raise further investment in the town’s high flying football club, both on and off the pitch.
Evatt said, ” It’s great what the fans here at Barrow will do in support of our club and of course, I’m all for anything that supports mental and physical well being too.”
Trust Chairman Herbert joked, “I’ve a couple of holidays this year and I’d like to visit the beach without a coastguard being alerted! It’s just a way of keeping fit and trying to play our part in financing our football club.
Nichols said, ” we did something similar a few years ago which was good fun- it gives you a bit of an incentive, knowing you are helping Barrow A.F.C as well as yourself.”
The portly pals hope to raise £500 and are encouraging other supporters to join in with the initiative, lose weight and raise money. The Play Your Part Weight Loss Challenge page can be found on Just Giving.
